$20 minimum wage
Minimum wage is set provincially, but the cost-of-living ranges from region to region. The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) calculates that the Living Wage is $20.62 in Vancouver. It’s time to build a broad-based campaign to pressure the provincial government to tie the minimum wage in Vancouver to a living wage of $20.

Rent Freeze for neighbourhood stores
We will build support with small businesses for commercial rent-control, and call for a four-year Rent Freeze for local small businesses in Vancouver.

COPE will call on the federal and provincial governments to increase the provision of public pensions in Canada, improving both the funding and benefit structures, with the aim of dramatically decreasing the importance of real estate appreciation and investment in Canadians’ retirement income.
