On behalf of the Board of Directors, Staff, Members and women and children who access Atira Women’s Resource Society’s programs and services, you are invited to a once in a lifetime evening filled with wonder, stories and an opportunity to meet some outstanding young people.
Please join us on Monday, June 23rd, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at 319 Main Street, Vancouver, BC for the premier screening of Islands of the People as well as other inspiring short films, a question and answer period and some thoughtful conversation.  These young people will be traveling for the first time from the Queen Charlotte Islands to New York City to show their film at the Lincoln Center as part of the 2008 Human Rights Watch International Film Festival.  Upon their return, they have been asked to stay in Vancouver for an extra day to share their journey, their work and their stories with us.
You are encouraged to bring friends, colleagues and family, and we would welcome any children over the age of 10 as well to come and meet their peers.  Tickets are being sold in advance to ensure we fill the theatre (and of course have enough food and dessert for you J), so please purchase your tickets in advance.  Ticket and event information is attached, and feel free to contact me directly with any event inquiries.
The making of this film would not have been possible without the guidance of Atira Women’s Resource Society, and generous contributions of the Central City Foundation, Vancity Community Foundation, Telus Community Foundation and B.C. Technology Social Venture Partners.  We look forward to sharing it with you in person.
Blessings and light,

Screening: Islands of the People
