International Solidarity Luncheon with Arnold August

Participatory Democracy in Cuba
Monday, April 21; 12 noon
Boardroom 3
Maritime Labour Centre
111 Victoria Drive

Arnold August is the author of Democracy in Cuba and the 1997-98 Elections and has spent considerable time in Cuba observing its unique electoral system. He has recently returned from Cuba where he witnessed the full process again to prepare for his upcoming book, Cuba: Participatory Democracy and Elections in the 21st Century. He addresses the questions: What are the roles of students and and of the student federation? Can those who do not agree with the system be nominated to run for elections? How does accountability operate in Cuba?

Join us for an intimate lunch ($8.00) where August will make a presentation and lead discussion.
