In 2002 David Cadman was elected to City Council where he is Vancouver’s representative to the GVRD and TransLink. He also chairs the Cool Vancouver Task Force on Climate Change and the City’s Peace and Justice Committee.
Born in Montreal, David attended university in the US and Geneva where, earning an MA in International Development. He also studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and is fluent in French.
After several years in Tanzania and Kenya developing literacy programs, David returned to Vancouver in 1976 and worked for the Social Planning and Research Council and the GVRD.
David is a long-time social and environmental activist, serving as President of the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) and at the international level of the United Nations Association. In 1986 he was awarded the UN Peace medal and UN 50th Anniversary medal.
David lives in Grandview-Woodland with his partner, Marisa. They have one son who attends SFU.
