Monday was a momentous day for the LGBTQ+ community and allies in BC!
The City of Vancouver proclaimed Pride Week in Vancouver at Jim Deva Plaza (Davie St and Bute St.).
The BC Legislature unanimously passed a bill to protect the human rights of Trans people in BC. After years of the BC Liberals denying that there was any need for specific protection of Trans People in the BC Human Rights Code, the government amended the Code to protect Gender Identity and Gender Expression.
COPE is very active this Pride Season. COPE had a table at Eastside Pride on June 25th at Grandview Park engaging with many of the crowd of enthusiastic participants.

COPE will be in the Trans, Transgender, Transexual, Two Spirit, Genderqueer, Intersex March on Friday July 29th. Assembling at Clark Park (Commercial Dr. and East 14th Ave.) at 5:30pm. marching to Victoria Park (Victoria Dr. and Grant St.) Look for people in COPE t-shirts.
COPE will be in the Dyke March on Saturday July 30th. Assembling at McSpadden Park (Victoria Dr. and East 5th Ave.) at 11am. marching to the Dyke Festival at Grandview Park (Commercial Dr. and Charles St.) where COPE will have a table. The Festival runs until 5:00pm.
COPE will in the Pride Parade on July 31st. Assembling at 12:15pm at location GW6 on the west side of Thurlow St. between Nelson and Barclay, closer to Barclay. Marchers must arrive by 12:45pm.
