March 11 Meeting Agenda will include the following:

  • Strategy Discussion for Left Unity 2018
  • Election of Executive Officers

Strategy Discussion for Left Unity 2018:

The Co-Chairs will report on discussions with other electoral organizations. COPE issued a Press Release

Members are asked to consider the following:

  • Should COPE run a Mayoralty Candidate in this year’s municipal election?
  • What is the right number of candidates for COPE to nominate for Council, School Board and parks Board?
  • Should we endorse candidates not running with COPE?
  • What would need to be the basis of electoral cooperation with another electoral organziation in terms of policy and platform?

COPE Executive Elections:

The following positions are up for election

  • Membership Secretary-This position will end at the 2018 AGM
  • Fundraiser This position will end at the 2018 AGM
  • One (1) Member at Large- This position will end at the 2018 AGM

Membership Secretary- The membership secretary chairs the membership committee and maintains membership records.

Fundraiser – The Fundraiser shall monitor COPE’s fundraising capacity and opportunities,  recommend fundraising plans and events, and supervise the implementation of those that are approved,  chair the fundraising committee, and be a  member of the finance committee.

Members at Large have no specific Table Officer responsibilities but are encouraged to be active at the committee level and in common with Table Officers must attend a minimum of seven executive meetings per year and at least three General Meetings.
