ELECT FOR SCHOOL BOARD
Jane Bouey, a parent who has raised a special needs child, has defended and fought for improved public education since 1993.
Bouey is a two term School Trustee first elected in 2002 and currently the Board’s Vice-Chair. Bouey is devoted to ensuring schools are more welcoming, inclusive and accessible for all students.
In order to make that a reality, she has played a leadership role across Canada in developing LGBTQ education policy. “There are real barriers in our schools that are systemic such as poverty and racism,” says Bouey. “The only way we are going to tackle these issues and build schools that are safe and celebrate diversity is to work collaboratively. That’s something that is good for everyone in Vancouver.”
Bouey has been the co-manager of People’s Co-op Bookstore for the past 18 years and is a proud member of the Commercial Drive neighbourhood.
