Anita Romaniuk has lived in Vancouver for over 30 years. She was a member of COPE’s Parks Committee from 1994 to 2008 and chaired the committee from 1998 to 2002, a role to which she has returned since being elected to the Executive in 2012. She was elected with COPE as Parks Commissioner from 2002 to 2005. A long-time activist on Parks and Recreation issues, beginning with her involvement with the Douglas Park Community Association as a Board member and Arts Committee member from 1990 to 2002, her interests range from preserving and enhancing green and public spaces, to ensuring accessibility to recreation facilities throughout the city. She has continued her advocacy as Treasurer of the Vancouver Society for Preservation of Outdoor Pools and a member of the board of Save Our Parklands Association.
Anita is looking forward to working with other members of the COPE Executive to promote a Vancouver that provides a good quality of life for all its residents.
